The Tarot of Why

The Fours

The four of wands

You can afford some concord.
You can agree to agree.
You can have more rapport.
You can hear the harmony.
You can get engaged on this stage and you can do it publicly.
You can celebrate the differ-ences, open doors, tear down fences.
You can make new ties and empathize, put someone else’s shoes on for size.
Or you could do none of these things and not even try.
But why?

the four of cups

Chairman of the bored.
Self absorbed.
Salvation ignored.
Are you out of your gourd?
Your facade’s a mirage.
Your misspent youth.
The mask dislodged.
The age old truth.
There’s no lack of lackluster.
Wait and see’s all you can muster.
Why?

The four of pentacles

Time to take stock
Have what you’ve got.
You may be a hoarder.
Or on the border
of frugal and miser
And none the wiser.
You may be a skin flint
Or a spend thrift
Holding on to the unspent
In a dead lift
Safely behind what feels
like a shield of steel
Unalloyed.
So why oh why so paranoid?

the four of swords

What's done is done.
You survived, alive.
Both the aftermath and the laughtermath.
It's time to contemplate your fate,
Lick your wounds,
Recuperate.
Go solo.
Own your aloneness.
It's a fine confinement.
Why?
